With the relaxation on restrictions for public gatherings for Jackson County, we are adopting modified guidelines for our public liturgies (effective June 27, 2020). Please read them carefully.
1. DISPENSATION from SUNDAY OBLIGATION is STILL IN EFFECT. Persons with higher vulnerability to the virus are still strongly encouraged to take advantage of the dispensation and refrain from attending public Mass. Livestreaming of Masses via Facebook Live will continue for daily Masses and one Sunday Mass (10:30am, St Dominic). Families, individuals, or households are still welcome to simply choose this option if they are still uncomfortable returning to public worship.
2. DENSITY LIMITATIONS and PERSONAL BEHAVIORAL GUIDELINES. No more reserved seating and space restrictions. Sit wherever you feel comfortable. Wearing of masks is not mandatory but still highly encouraged. Sanitizers will continue to be made available at church entrances. People are also asked to avoid unnecessarily touching anything in the church (especially the hymnals).
3. LITURGICAL GUIDELINES for the CELEBRATION of MASS (a) The following are still suspended: use of holy water fonts, congregational singing and use of hymnals, passing of collection plates, offertory procession, holding hands and other forms of physical contact with persons not belonging to one’s household (Our Father and Sign of Peace). (b) For Holy Communion, the distribution of the Precious Blood will continue to be suspended and receiving the Sacred Host on the tongue is still discouraged.
4. SANITATION. While we are easing back towards some semblance of normalcy and familiarity, we are also still called to be vigilant. We need your help in keeping our spaces sanitized. You can do your own small part but we also need volunteers to take care of our sacred space. Please consider being a volunteer for our sanitation crew!
